argument

How would you feel if you were thrown in a detention center? Forced to live in poor and unsanitary conditions? Being malnourished and neglected? Being forced to go through all this only for seeking refuge? I can guarantee you that you would not like it. This is what thousands of immigrants and immigrant children have to go through when crossing the border from Mexico to the United States. And all they're trying to do is find a better life here. In these detention centers they're being put through horrible living conditions, being neglected, and being separated from their families.

Many people in these detention camps are being forced to live in horrible and disgusting conditions. Both children and adults have gone weeks, or for all we know months, without toothpaste, soap, and places to shower/wash themselves. This is not sanitary at all and these poor people are being kept in these facilities with no other choice but to be dirty.

People in these camps are being neglected by the ICE officials who work in these detention centers. There have been images that emerged from these detention centers depicting kids being kept in literal cages, sleeping on concrete floors, and being given blankets that are made out of tin foil. If this doesn't concern you enough, I don't know what to tell you. These people don't deserve to be put inside cages, they're treating them like they're animals.

Families are being separated by immigration and it needs to stop. When ICE releases the children in their facilities they release them before they release the adults, meaning that families are getting split up and kids are being released without their parents. This is not right in anyway, no family deserves to be separated. Who knows where or who these poor children are being given to. It's so wrong to separate a small child from their parents.

And yes, I know what someone might say to me even after the points I've brought up. "But they're coming here illegally, maybe if they entered the United States the right way they wouldn't have to go through this". First of all, shut up, you sound like an idiot. In case you didn't know this, seeking asylum isn't illegal. Yes, you read that right. Seeking asylum is not illegal. Let's say it louder for the people in the back. SEEKING ASYLUM IS NOT ILLEGAL. All that these people want is a better life for them and their children, so they come to the United States seeking asylum.

Now think about it again, how would you feel if you had to go through all of that? Having to sleep on concrete floors, unsanitary conditions, kept in cages, being separated from your own family. I know how you'd feel, you'd feel horrible. You'd feel scared. You'd feel helpless. Nobody deserves to feel this way when all they wanted was a better life for themselves and their kids. ABOLISH ICE.
